The DW7000 has a single industry standard RJ45 connector at the rear of the unit. This allows it to easily connect to a users computer, or to multiple systems by connecting it to a router/hub. The DW7000 is a self-hosted system, meaning it does not require special driver software to be loaded on the users computer. Software updates are received & loaded into the modem automatically. This allows the modem to be a true "always on" device, like cable modems. It also means the DW7000 can be used on a variety of O.S. platforms, like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc..

The DW7000 also features an internal status & diagnostics menu, the "System Control Center", which hosts
a large variety of statistics, logs, and modem test functions. For typical home use the modem can be operated with
the older .74m or .89m dish commonly found with DW4000 & DW6000's .. this makes upgrading those systems
very easy, with the user only needing to purchase a new modem. For optimal performance the DW7000 can also
be used with the new .98m dish, or even with the .120m & .180m dishes which are more commonly used on the
DW7700 business systems. The standard 2-Way dishes use a 1-Watt transmitter, but when teamed with a .98
or larger dish, a 2-Watt transmitter can be purchased at an additional cost.

Accessing the DW7000 User Interface :
The various functions, features, & statistics of the DW7000 are accessable through the "DW7000 System Control Center". To
access the control center you need to open up your web browser (I.E.: Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc.) and type the following into
the address bar : . Doing that should bring up the System Control Center screen.
The Control Center has a number of useful logs, information, and the like. From there you can view your signal strength, check which firmware version you have, view various connection logs, configure ranging, and much more. The Control Center interface is not available on older systems like the DW4000.
A look inside the DW7000
Curious about what it looks like inside the DW7000 satellite modem ? Here's a quick look under the hood !
The DW7000 & DW7700 use the same circuit board. DW7700 port locations are noted below too.
Late in 2005 HNS released the DW7000, their latest and most advanced satellite internet system at
the time. While the DW7000 looks almost identical to the DW6000, internally they're very
different. Not only is the DW7000 capable of transmit & receive speeds up to 2x that of the DW6000, it also supports use on a much broader frequency range. Alike the DW6000, the DW7000 can operate in the Ku band, however the DW7000 can additionally operate in the C, and Extended C band.
